Join us in honoring the state’s most outstanding adult learners with special guest speaker Alton Carter.

Directly following the awards ceremony, adult learner authors will be available to sign copies of Celebrating Our Journey, Vol. 10. This hugely successful series published by the Oklahoma Literacy Resource Office, showcases the thoughts and writings of Oklahoma adult learners.

Stay for light refreshments and meet Oklahoma author Alton Carter. Copies of Mr. Carter’s inspirational books will be available for purchase.

Special Guest Speaker
Alton Carter

A former foster child and police officer, Alton Carter is director of youth ministries for the First United Methodist Church of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and a graduate of Oklahoma State University. He is author of The Boy Who Carried Bricks, which won the 2016 Oklahoma Book Award, and its sequel, Aging Out, which won the national 2017 In the Margins Award for nonfiction. The father of two sons—Kelton and Colin, he loves spending time with his family, working with youngsters, and fishing. He makes his home in Stillwater, with his wife, Kristin, and his boys.
